About the Key Colony Beach, and Live email notification of new listings

Key Colony Beach is located in the heart of the Florida Keys, about 1 ˝ hour drive from mainland of Florida, and an hour drive to the town of Key West.  The Colony attracts scores of vacationers because of its direct access to the Gulf of Mexico and to the Atlantic Ocean. You can find countless marine activities here – the best fishing and diving areas, snorkeling and scuba diving on the unique coral reefs in Sombrero Reef, and the #1 rated beach in North America, Bahia Honda State Park, is located nearby.

Key Colony offers a variety of recreational activities.  The Key Colony Beach Golf & Tennis includes a 9-hole golf course and tennis courts and is open to the public.  Other activities are basketball court, bocce ball court, and a horseshoe area.

Key Colony offers several public events throughout the year.  Key Colony Beach Day is a March event, which celebrates the birthday of the city.  Many visitors from all over the Keys enjoy a full day of live music, games, a variety of foods, and more.  Taste of the Islands, also a very popular event, is a fundraiser.  The best restaurants present food samples of their local specialties.  A great taste enjoyment that nicely complements an afternoon of warm sunshine and refreshing ocean breezes!  Other events are Art in the Park presented by the Art Florida Keys Art Guild, and the Zonta 5K Walk for Women’s Health Awareness.  Call 305-395-0814 for all your real estate needs, wants and ask for Lela.

TRANSPORTATION/AIRPORTS

Getting around the Keys:  Everyone travels by automobile up and down the islands on the famed Overseas Highway, which stretches from Key Largo to Key West.  Travelers also have the option to sit back and let Ambiance Sun's Big Purple Buses luxury coaches carry them to and from Marathon airport and Key West.

Getting to the Keys by ground:  Greyhound Lines has scheduled stops between Miami International Airport and many locations on the Keys. The Keys Shuttle travels between Ft. Lauderdale and Miami International Airport to various towns on the islands.

Air Travel to the Keys: Several major air carriers schedule regular service to both Key West International Airport and Florida Keys Marathon Airport. These include US Airways and Delta, and American Eagle Airlines.  Many flights are routed through the Miami International Airport, although some smaller airlines, such as Cape Air and private charters, schedule direct flights from many major cities in Florida, such as Ft. Meyers, Ft. Lauderdale, Naples, and the Bahamas. International flights must connect to one of these airlines in Miami.

Marathon Airport began as a World War II airstrip and now is a convenient destination for both commercial and private planes.  Located in the middle of the island chain Marathon Airport is an hour away from either Key West (south) or Key Largo (north), making it a popular travel choice for travelers.

Traveling by water:  The Key West Express provides passenger ferry service from Ft. Myers Beach and Marco Island on Florida's southwest coast to the Key West Bight Ferry Terminal.  It’s about 3.5 hours of refreshing breezes and sun.  For private boaters be sure to reserve your space in the numerous marinas that dot the coastal inlands.

ABOUT EDUCATION

Students who live on the Keys are served by the Monroe County Schools.   Randy Acevedo, Superintendent of Monroe County Schools, is quoted: Together, as a team, we will support our vision - “that all students succeed in academic, artistic and athletic endeavors” and “that every employee is appreciated, highly qualified, an effective communicator, and improves continuously to meet emerging needs of students.”

There are three high schools: Coral Shores (Tavernier), Key West (Key West), and Marathon High School (Marathon); one Middle School; and five Elementary Schools throughout the area.  Monroe County offers many other educational services as well:  Hurricane Island Outward Bound, Montessori Elementary Charter School, and Big Pine Neighborhood Charter School are just a few.

Real Estate Tips
Selling Your Home >Preparing For Sale

When preparing to sell your home, it is useful to know how homebuyers respond when they look at a house. Very few people will buy a home because they are attracted by fantastic bathrooms. Buyers do react to bathrooms that are not cared for, however, because they view them as a reflection of the overall condition of the property.

Many buyers know that plumbing repairs potentially represent a major expense. They get nervous about dripping faucets, loose tiles, and running toilets. Your pre-marketing preparations should include making sure that your plumbing is working properly and that any cosmetic damage caused by former leaks has been repaired.

Keep the bathroom spotless while your home is on the market. Remove any traces of mold or mildew and scour away any build-up on the bathtub and basin. Re-caulk around the tub and shower, if necessary. A new shower curtain, bath mat, plush towels and scented soap can help give the buyer one more positive reason for liking your home!

My purpose is to help buyers and sellers Making Their Dream a Reality! To Live and Work in a prosperous environment in The Heart of Florida Keys and Key West that encourages productivity, to that we may improve the service we render to our family, friends, company, our community, our nation and, ultimately, the World. By the way, why is that immigrants to the United States succeed and become self-made millionaires at four times the rate of native-born Americans on a per-capita basis? and the simplest reason of all, aside from the fact that they had to have more ambition to leave their home to come here, is that they come here with a blank slate...is they come here, and they say, "Now, I'm starting all over from nothing." Many of them come here penniless, with no friends, no contacts, no ability to speak English. They have no education. They have no background. they start with nothing but a blank slate. and what they do is they say, "Now, I'm in the land of dreams. What is my dream?" (Brian Tracy). Does this resonate with you? it does with me! Now what is your dream? Thank You. Lela p.s. People don't mind trading information for good value. Please feel free to leave your email and phone number where I can communicate with you effectively.
